THE governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the just concluded governorship election in Ondo State, Eyitayo Jegede, on Thursday, appealed to his supporters not to be discouraged by the outcome of the last Saturday’s governorship election, saying “We have better days ahead.”
Jegede who stated this in Akure, Ondo State capital, while hosting his supporters at his campaign office, commended the people of the state for their support before, during and after the election.
According to him, the massive and unprecedented acceptability accorded him across the state during the campaign indicated that he has registered his name in the hearts of the people of the state.
He, however, said meeting his supporters became imperative in order to appreciate the support given to him in the face of the glaring gang-up against his mandate.
He said, “The meeting is just to give encouragement to our people and thank them for their support and love. It is to demonstrate that it is not only when you are pronounced winner that you appreciate God and the work of men. In all seasons, we must give glory to God.
On his next line of action, Jegede said, “There is still a future for all of us; that is why we are here. Our supporters should remain steadfast as we are always ready to offer selfless service. We promise not to be far from them.”
The meeting was attended by his running mate, John Ola Mafo, PDP chieftains who include former House of Representative member, Debo Ologunagba, PDP Publicity Secretary, Banji Okunomo, Coordinator of the Eyitayo Volunteer Group (EVG), Olumide Ogunkua among others.
