EKITI State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has asked former President Olusegun Obasanjo to quit putting forth provocative expressions that occupy and demoralize Nigerians from solidly confronting up to the burdensome undertaking of settling the economy and building Nigeria into a solid and virile country.
Responding to a statement credited to Obasanjo, in which the former president said his era had fizzled the country, Fayose who talked through his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, censured Obasanjo’s unctuous pretentiousness, saying the former president should separate from the announcement being misdirecting, self-serving and foiling.
He added that it is not what the nation needs as of now of awesome financial diversion.
“There is much suffering in the land. The people are hungry. Yet, one of those responsible for this unsavoury state of affairs relishes in adding insult to the people’s injury. He makes statements that are not only reckless but also untrue”, he added.
Fayose said instead of sum up, Obasanjo ought to represent himself, saying, “Obasanjo, truly, has failed this country many times over but not all members of his generation failed this country. There are shinning lights in that generation that have served the nation well.
““How about Emeka Anyaoku, Wole Soyinka, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Prof. Ayodele Awojobi? The list is endless and they are to be found in all the nooks and crannies of this country who belong in the same generation as Obasanjo and who have done this country proud”, he included.
Fayose, in any case, deplored that Obasanjo squandered all the brilliant open doors that he needed to make this nation incredible, first as a military Head of State and later as a two-term regular citizen president.
“It is past the point of no return in the day for him to now cry over different nations that have cruised Nigeria by. This is negligible crocodile tears when we understand that no other Nigerian pioneer had the open doors that Obasanjo needed to make this nation extraordinary however he screwed up them all”.
“He ought to represent himself and not rope his whole era into his misfortune in administration. Here is a man who neither perceived nor energized any star aside from himself. He should shoot them down or demonize them. For him, Obafemi Awolowo was not devoted; MKO Abiola was not the savior Nigeria required; Tinubu was a rapscallion; Jonathan was bad; and President Muhammadu Buhari did not comprehend financial matters. Just Obasanjo is great. Just Obasanjo battled and won the common war. Just Obasanjo comprehends everything – from financial aspects to military to remote issues”
“However, this is the same Obasanjo that established the framework for defilement in this nation with his disastrous third-term misfortune when billions of Naira was utilized to influence National Assembly individuals. This is the same Obasanjo that transformed EFCC under Nuhu Ribadu into his private armed force to irritate political rivals. Under this same Obasanjo, eight regular citizen governors were unlawfully and unceremoniously expelled from office through kangaroo prosecutions. Minority individuals from the Houses of Assembly were enabled to abrogate the larger part individuals. Under Obasanjo, our decisions were “iwuru-wuru” and “mago-mago” and we were the fool of the universal group.
“This same Obasanjo, who returned from jail a homeless person, ask him the amount he is worth today and how he profited? The starting of his Presidential Library, which he is planning to commission soon, pulled in gifts that kept running into billions of Naira while he was in office. Just God knows what number of more billions the dispatching will collect this time around.
Blaming the previous President for a fixation on embracing the spotlight, the representative stated: “Obasanjo ought to offer us a reprieve. There is no denying the way that he fizzled the nation. The slightest he can now do is allow us to sit unbothered to clear the impossible to miss mess he and others of his kind got this nation into. Give him a chance to resign into haziness; blur far from the spotlight; and permit us our tranquility and quietness”, Fayose included.
