THE Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has urged parents to uphold their responsibility by raising their children in godly manner.

Dogara stated this in a goodwill message he delivered during the dedication of newly born twin daughters of former Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Prof. Suleman Bogoro at the Church of Christ In Nations (COCIN) Centre, Bauchi on Sunday.

The Speaker said all human beings were created to live under God’s shadow, hence the neccessity of dedicating new born beings to God as was done by the parents.

“Everything that has breath, are created to live in certain atmosphere.

“If you take man or woman outside God’s presence, he will die.

“It is always a privilege and great gift to be a father or mother.

“So when we have children we should participate in shaping, moulding and directing them”, he said.

The Speaker prayed God to grant couples who are waiting upon the Lord for the gift of children, their heart desires.

Dogara congratulated Bogoro and his wife, Justice Yelhm, on the gift of the twins, about 26 years after they had their first son and prayed God to protect the family.

In his sermon, COCIN Vice President, Rev. Dr Obed Dashen, enjoined parents and the Christian community to collectively ensure good upbringing of children.

Dashen urged parents to take up their responsibility and reverence to God in counselling children as well as show them love in order to be godly.

The COCIN President, Dr Dachollom Datiri, who was represented by his predecessor,  Rev. Dr Soja Bewarang, commended Dogara on the manner he is running the affairs of the House of Representatives and urged him not to be distracted by challenges from whatever corner.

The cleric enjoined the Speaker to be courageous, adding that the challenges, trials and temptations will soon be over.

In their remarks, the parents thanked God for the gifts ànd the dignitaries for their support and prayers over the family.
