THE Zoning Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has submitted its report to the national caretaker committee.
The Chairman of the Committee and Governor of Ebonyi State, Mr. Dave Umahi, who submitted the report, affirmed that the presidential ticket of the party for 2019 was reserved for the North as approved by the National Convention in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on May 21.
He said bearing that in mind the office of the national chairman had been allotted to the southern part of the country.
The governor, however, said that all positions should be keenly contested among the major zones they were allotted in order to open the space and allow full participation of members.
Umahi said that the committee had agreed that the positions of Deputy National Chairman be returned to the North and South.
Also, he said that the six National Vice Chairmen be included as members of the party’s National Working Committee.
The committee, he said, encouraged the party to adopt a pattern of zoning by switching positions from North to South in its zoning before, which was not implemented.
Offices reserved to the north, according to the committee were the deputy national chairman, national secretary, national financial secretary, national publicity secretary, national auditor and national woman leader.
Others included the offices of the deputy national treasurer, deputy national organizing secretary, deputy national youth leader, deputy national legal adviser and deputy national secretary.
Positions allotted to the South according to the committee, were the offices of the national chairman, deputy national chairman, national treasurer, national legal adviser and national youth leader.
Others included national organising secretary, deputy national publicity secretary, deputy national woman leader, deputy national auditor and deputy national financial secretary.
The report was submitted to the Secretary of the Caretaker Committee, Sen. Ben Obi.
