IN an exclusive interview with Reuters, Donald Trump weighed in on a number of important topics ranging from North Korean leader Kim Jong Un (“I would have no problem speaking to him”) to the Federal Reserve (“I think, number one, the Federal Reserve should be audited.”)

But arguably the most quirky tidbit of the 30-minute-long interview came in when the billionaire businessman and presumptive Republican nominee shared his thoughts on assisted living facilities.

“Nursing homes are great. Nobody appreciates nursing homes, like, more than me,” he said.

Trump was discussing the unceremonious fall of the factory industry, specifically in northeastern states like New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland, where many factories were either left in abandon or converted into retirement homes, he said.

“It’s factory after factory – you can buy them for a dollar – closed. Disintegrating,” Trump added.

Trump made clear that he had no beef with old folks’ homes themselves: “I understand. I’ve been involved with nursing homes,” adding, “but nursing homes aren’t creating widgets and gadgets.”
