THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said on Monday it has so far led no less than 167 races in the fallout of the 2015 general elections.

INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, revealed this at a consultative meeting with media administrators in Abuja.

“Arising from court-ordered rerun elections and end of tenure governorship to FCT Area Council elections, we have so far conducted 167 elections,” he said.

Yakubu, in any case, included that the commission had made plans to meet with the leaders of the country’s legal to put a conclusion to instances of clashing court orders.

“The issue of conflicting orders is one that we shall take up with the judiciary,” he said, including that just a single of the 167 decisions had been invalidated by the courts.

Yakubu additionally uncovered that 38 of the country’s political gatherings kept on ridiculing the principles on battle financing, saying just two have presented their announcements of record to INEC.

“They are to file such statements  within six months  after the general elections and only two parties have complied with this provision, because the two parties said they received nothing and so there was nothing to declare. They said that they did not even participate in the elections,”
