THE people of Iwo in Osun insisted on zoning of Osun governor’s seat to Osun West.
This was according to a statement by Iwoland Development Coalition, signed by its coordinator, Mr Adisa Kabiru, FCA, responding to a recent news article that quotes a prominent son of Iwo, Prof Deremi Abubakre, as saying ‘there was no need for zoning.’
“It is important to stress that our reverred Prof Abubakre is speaking for himself in the said interview. In Iwo, we respect individiduals’ right to free speech, but we want to reiterate that the general populace of Iwo believes the governorship ticket should be zoned to Osun West.”
Adisa continued, “Iwoland and the entire Osun West have many qualified aspirants who can be governor of Osun. Any idea that zoning the ticket to Osun West would defeat competence is pure nonsense. We have people in Iwo who are qualified to be president of the Federal Republic. Just look at the antecedents of aspirants from Iwo and you will see that Iwo has the most qualified array of aspirants.”
The group said failure to give Iwo the governorship ticket could spell defeat for the concerned political party as the people of Iwo are tired of being persistently overlooked in the leadership of their state.
