The Supreme Court judgement which affirmed the electoral success of Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu as the Governor of Ondo State and which upheld the judgement of the Appeal Court has been described as divine, well-deserved and a vindication of the electoral wish of the people of Ondo State.
The Secretary to the Government of Ondo State, Princess Catherine Oladunni Odu pointed this out in a message after the Supreme Court validated the election of Akeredolu as the candidate validly elected by the people of Ondo State.
She said that the judgement validated, sealed, signed and confirmed the electoral confidence reposed in Arakunrin Akeredolu by the people of Ondo State. “It has made the mandate free of controversy and insinuation.”
Princess Odu congratulated Mr Governor Arakinrin Akeredolu also rejoiced with the First Lady, Mrs Betty Akeredolu for commencing a prosperous and glorious second term for the great people of Ondo State and for a greater Ondo State.
REPORTERS AT LARGE recalls that the apex court, in a majority judgment delivered by Justice Emmanuel Agim, upheld Akeredolu’s election on the grounds that the appeal by Olutayo Jegede and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lacked merit since the appellants failed to include Yobe State Governor and Chairman Caretaker Committee of the All progressives Congress (APC), Mai Mala Buni, as a party in the suit.
