*As Senate Goes Into Closed Door Over IGP Non-Appearance
THE Senate has passed a vote of no confidence on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris and has described him as ‘unfit’ to hold a public office.
The position of the Senate followed the third refusal of the police boss to appear before the Senate, despite series of invitations.
However, the Senate has gone into a closed door session, to take a decision over the refusal of the IGP to appear for the third time before the upper legislative chamber.
Recall that the IGP was first invited a fortnight ago, but failed to show up. Again, he was re-summoned to to appear last week. He declined. For the last time, the Senate invited him to appear today. He refused to show up.
