The Kebbi State Traditional Council has conferred the chieftaincy title of Kakaki nKebbi (Ambassador of Kebi State) on the Minister for Information and Culture, Alh. Lai Mohammed.
The title, according to the Emir of Argungu, Alh. Sama’ila Muhammad Mera, CON, was in appreciation of the contributions of the Minister to the promotion of Kebbi State, especially Argungu through the Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival.
The Emir of Argungu presented the Certificate and Staff of Office to the Minister during the International Press Conference for the 2020 Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival, on Tuesday at NTA Arena, NTA Headquarters, Abuja.
Emir Mera noted that official ceremony for the installation of Alh. Mohammed as the Kakaki nKebbi would be announced soon.
In his reaction, Alhaji Mohammed appreciated his predecessors in office, saying it is the cumulative efforts of all the previous ministers of Information and Culture that propelled the inscription of Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisations (UNESCO) on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2016.
