AN organization which seeks to inform Nigerians about the public data and hold government accountable to its expenses, Budgit, has accused the leadership of Senate President of Nigeria, Bukola Saraki, of not giving a detailed analysis of the National Assembly, in the 2016 Budget.
The Organisation is grievously lamenting that the 8th National Assembly’s leadership has not released the details of NASS 2016 budget of N115b, which purely indicates that it cares less about the demands of the people and transparency in general.
In its analysis monitored by FrontiersNews, the Organisation has admitted that “on different occasions, Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki promised to use his office to uphold accountability, asking that how could performance be measured without a budget?”.
It also argued that “across the world, legislatures give a breakdown of what they spend and how they spend public funds. National Assembly proposed a budget and passed the budget without scrutiny from the public it exists to serve.
However, it decried how the National Assembly has concerns itself with the Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) regulatory Bill to gag NGOs/CSOs from asking right questions and seeking transparency from government.
