Election Records Impressive Turnout
APC Gov Candidate, Obaseki, Wife Arrive Polling Centre
Philip Shuaibu, Obaseki’s Running Mate Casts His Vote
ACCREDITATION and voting have commenced in some of the polling units in Edo State, for the governorship election holding today, Wednesday, while some other units were about starting at about 8:30 a:m.
George Idah Primary School, Ward 1, Oredo Local Government Area, one of the units had started voting, while other units were about starting at about 8:30am.
Voters at Emokpae Primary School, Ward 4, Oredo Local Government Area, were, however, preparing to vote at about 8:50am as staffs of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were busy setting the stage for the commencement of the voting exercise.
Turnout has been remarkable as hundreds of people gathered at the polling units, even as people continue to arrive the polling units.
The All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Godwin Obaseki, in company with his wife, Betsy, have also arrived Emokpae Primary School in Ward 4, Oredo Local Government Area, to cast their vote.
Meanwhile, the governorship election has recorded an impressive turnout with voters arriving at polling stations in large numbers across the state.
As early as 7.30 a.m., voters were seen in large numbers eager to cast their vote in all the polling centres visited.
It was also observed that the exercise in all the polling stations monitored was peaceful and orderly.
Adequate security personnel were deployed to ensure orderliness at the polling stations.
INEC officials also arrived early with election materials and were getting set to commence the conduct of the exercise.
Meanwhile, Philip Shuaibu, the running mate of APC candidate, Godwin Obaseki, has just cast his vote at Ward 11 unit 5, Etsako West local government of Edo state.
