MEMBERS of tourism media associations are putting heads together for a befitting sentforth party in honour of Mrs Sally Mbanefo, who has just been relieved as the Director-General of the Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC).
The tourism media associations being led by the Guild of Tourism Journalists in Nigeria, which joined others in pointing out the error of fact made by the office of the Secretary to the Federal Government in relation to her terms of her tenure in office.
The sssociations in a brief meeting held in Lagos, pointed out that contrary to the letter of relieve, Mrs Mbanefo was appointed for a four year term which is supposed to run full in April 2017.
The association slammed the SGF office for improper record keeping and shoddy way of sacking eminent and accomplished Nigerians who hearkened to the call to serve their father’s land.
The associations then commended Mrs Sally Mbanefo for being a Director-General of NTDC who embraced Domestic Tourism.
“She made her mark by refusing to gallivant all over the world, promoting what is not on the ground. She believes that Nigeria must grow domestic products before calling others to visit and buy.
“It must also be pointed out that her refusal to waste Nigeria’s funds on attending foreign fairs and exhibitions pitched her against a cabal of journalists who profit from sponsored travel.”
The association pointed out that “Sally Mbanefo deserves to be commended, honoured and rewarded for serving the nation. We are going to Gaff this. Nigerians should learn how to celebrate those who have done their best excellently well when serving the nation not to humiliate them. This we shall do for Sally Mbanefo.”
