FORMER Executive Secretary/Chief Executive of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN), Mr Jim Osayande Obazee, who enforced a new rule that prompted the exit of Pastor Enoch Adeboye as the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church God (RCCG) Nigeria, last weekend, was a pastor in RCCG from Lagos Province (LP) 25, ReportersAtLarge gathered.
Obazee enforced a new rule that prevents leaders of not-for-profit organizations to relinquish leadership of their organizations after 20 years in the saddle.
Following the controversial resignation of Pastor Adeboye as the General Overseer of RCCG in Nigeria, and the announcement of Pastor Joseph Obayemi sa the “National Overseer” for Nigeria the Federal Government, on Monday, effected a major shake-up in the boards of some public institutions, sweeping away the Obazee.
According to a source, who pleaded anonymity, “Obazee was my Zonal Pastor for two years; very arrogant and power drunk. He was the one who championed that Daddy G.O must go at 70 years, then. He left the church as a zonal pastor.”
Recalled that Pastor Adeboye, while charging members of the church to join a party and become a card-carrying member of any party, to enable them decide issues right from the ward level, disclosed that other fresh laws had been enacted by the government to ruffle the feathers of the church in the country, particularly targeted at the RCCG.
According to him, “Now there are fresh laws. We have a rough idea of what the law is about.
“Some people believe that RCCG is becoming too influential and we’re going to be more influential. When you get home, tell members to join a political party.”
