THREE weeks after President Muhammadu Buhari left for the United Kingdom for a follow up medical consultation with his doctors, his wife, Aisha, on Tuesday left Abuja to join him.
According to a post on her Twitter handle, media aide to wife of the president, Bisi Olumide-Ajayi, before she jetted out, Aisha expressed appreciation to the millions of Nigerians who have been praying for her husband’s quick and safe return to Nigeria.
“Her Excellency will spend some time with her husband, President Muhammadu Buhari who is on a medical vacation,” she tweeted.
It would be recalled that President Buhari travelled to London on May 7, 2017 for the follow-up medical consultation with his doctors.
According to a statement issued by his spokesman, Femi Adesina, at the time, Buhari had assured all Nigerians that there was no cause for worry.
The statement had said that the president was very grateful for the prayers and good wishes of the people, and hoped they would continue to pray for the peace and unity of the nation.
“The length of the President’s stay in London will be determined by the doctors. Government will continue to function normally under the able leadership of the Vice President,” the statement had said.
But it informed that the president had transmitted letters about the trip to the Senate and the House of Representatives, in compliance with Section 145 (1) of the 1999 Constitution.
