THE Presidential ambition of former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, is gathering momentum as group under the aegis of United Atiku Abubakar Support Group has commenced campaign in his support ahead of the 2019 general elections.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the State Coordinators for the group in Calabar on Saturday, Zonal Coordinator for the group in the South South Zone, Comr. Godswill Mathew urged youths in the Niger Delta region to throw their weight behind the presidential ambition of Atiku Abubakar.
The zonal coordinator told the mammoth crowd that a time has come for the people of the Niger Delta to take their destinies in their hands and support a man who have impacted so much on the society, stressing that Atiku Abubakar was among the many Nigerians who touched the lives of youths particularly when it comes to providing employment opportunities for the teeming unemployed youths.
The group stressed that they were sure that if Atiku is given the mandate to lead, joblessness, poverty would become a thing of the past, adding that they have a strong conviction that Atiku would do well in terms of boosting the nation’s human capital development.
He said it was on the basis of that strong conviction that they decided to pitch its tent for the nation’s former Vice President adding that Atiku was among the many distinguished Nigerians with the track record to lead the country out of its current quagmire.
The group averred that Atiku was one of the finest breed with character and popularity that cut across all the geo-political zones to help the country stabilize its polity.
The Zonal Coordinator said,” We want to inform Nigerians especially those in the South South Zone that our leader, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is one of the finest Nigerians with the capacity to lead our dear country to achieve prosperity and economic freedom.
He said, “As a Zonal cordinator for the support group, we have the mandate of the National to inaugurate state coordinators and their executives across the six states of the zone, an exercise that we are kick-starting today with the formal inauguration of the Cross River State Support Group for 2019”.
“The state coordinators will be empowered to inaugurate the local governments and then the ward coordinators. This exercise will be replicated across the states in the zone.” Mathew stressed.
In a telephone interview, National Convener and Coordinator for the grop in Yobe state, Amb. Usman Adams said that apart from Atiku’s stride in the area of job creation for the army of unemployed youths in the country, Atiku is among the trusted Nigerians who can assist Nigeria restore her lost glory.
Adams described “The Turakin of Adamawa” as a detribalized Nigeria who has created several job opportunities for the nation’s teeming youths irrespective of tribe and religion stressing that Atiku Abubakar is among the contenders jostling for the nation’s plumb job”.
The National convener for the group maintained that Atiku’s wealth of experience in virtually all the areas of human endeavor places him far above every other contender jostling for the plumb job.
According to him, state coordinators will soon be empowered to inaugurate both the local governments and ward coordinators stressing that that exercise will be replicated across the states in all the zones.
Also speaking, Zonal Publicity Secretary, for the group, Eba Ishmael said that the group was committed to the course of helping Atiku Abubakar whom thgey have seen as a man with enormous capacity to lead the country achieve enviable height.
As a group, we are going to traverse the nooks and crannies of the zone to ensure that that our people are informed about this great icon of liberal democracy and make the right choice in 2019.We are therefore calling on all sons and daughters of the zone to to support this “Articulated Project” as our very own and massively key into the project.
