SENATOR Abdulfatai Buhari has called on Nigerians, irrespective of the religious belief and cultural affiliation, to always sacrifice their time, knowledge and skills for the progress of Nigeria.
He also urged the people in a position of authority to sacrifice their greed and lust for the unnecessary accumulation of wealth at the expense of the masses.
Buhari, representing Oyo North Senatorial District comprising of Ogbomoso and Oke Ogun, gave this admonition in an Easter message to the Christian faithful in this year commemoration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The federal lawmaker said “the lesson of this Easter is a sacrifice. Jesus sacrificed his life, he left everything and surrendered himself, the virtues which he has been demonstrating right from his birth. We may not be like Christ but we should have a semblance of His good virtues for us to have a better society.
“It is painful that many religious leaders who are supposed to be role models have backslid and deviated from the righteous part, thereby misleading people in power for their personal gains. This must stop if truly we want God to bless our nation.”
The re-elected lawmaker who is currently the Chairman, Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime said further that continuous prayers, sacrifices and exhibiting of good virtues will not only help our life as an individual, it will also have a meaningful impact in the society.
He, however, congratulated Christians and urged them to emulate Christ’s virtues by sacrificing their time to pray for leaders and progress of the country and be a living Christ for others to emulate.
