Another set of hundred farmers from Oyo North Senatorial District have benefitted from the training on fish production, facilitated Senator Buhari Abdulfatai, the lawmaker representing the district.
This is coming a few months after over 1,000 people benefited from a training on livestock farming, animal husbandry, planting, harvesting and marketing of grains and cassava among others.
The training which was organized by the Institute of Oceanography and Marine Research, Lagos was packaged by Edil Nigeria Limited.
Participants for the training, held at Wildmaire Event Centre, Okeho, were drawn from all local government areas in Oyo North Senatorial District.
Apart from the training, tools and start-up fund was given to each participant.
In his opening remark, Senator Buhari noted that he placed deserved priority on empowering his constituents “because its an avenue to lift take people away from poverty and create jobs.”
Buhari, who was represented by Honourable Adeyemo Adedeji Abiodun a.k.a.Obadoba harped on the need for training and be the acquisition of more knowledge in Agriculture and another related field.
“Our youths need to be actively involved in Agricultural for production of food and raw materials for both local consumption and exportation,” he said.
Senator Buhari admonished the beneficiaries to make use of the opportunity given to them by the training to see how they can be economically independent.
He enjoined women and youths to key into the clamour of the Federal Government, thereby venturing into any aspect of Agriculture to enable them, collectively and individually, contribute to the greatness of Nigeria.
One of the beneficiaries of the training, Gafari Zainab from Iseyin Local Government, confessed that she was exposed to the best way of venturing into profitable fish production. She pledged to make the best use of the knowledge she acquired to, not only make herself great but the Nation as a whole.
