A woman in her forties, Oluwole Iyabo has cried out after her daughter continues to suffer intense bleeding and Infection sustained from a forceful female genital mutilation in Port Harcourt.
Oluwole Iyabo, an indigene of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital told our reporter that some highly connected chiefs from members of their family had since October 2014, been on her trail for a compulsory circumcision of her daughter.
Iyabo told our reporter that her family lineage is one out of the families that believes in a compulsory ancient traditional practise that involves circumcision of all female children who have their origin from the family.”
“The circumcision is spiritual and carried out with an old rusted blade, believed to have been spiritually fortified and which had been used on other children in the past without sterilisation,” she said.
Iyabo further narrated how she had fled with her daughter from Ibadan city in October 2016 to Port Harcourt City for safety thinking that the chiefs and their hired hoodlums will not find her and her daughter.
She was, however, surprised to see two of the chiefs walk into her Port Harcourt home with two other hefty men who held her down while one of the chiefs forcefully circumcised her daughter with the ancient blade and the other chief holding her daughter and covering her mouth to avoid attention from neighbours.
Her daughter who has since then bled profusely, suffered severe pain and irritation had since then been admitted at the Port Harcourt Teaching hospital and doctors have confirmed that she has an infection from the wounds sustained as a result of the forceful circumcision.
Ms Oluwole also told our reporter that a similar situation had led to her brother; Kayode Oludara Oluwole fled the country to the United States in February 2015 with his daughters.
