Professor Ibrahim Gambari, the newly appointed Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, has said that his primary allegiance would be to the President and not the public.
Gambari, who disclosed this on Wednesday in a brief chat with the State House Correspondents at the Presidential Villa, appreciated President Buhari for deeming him worthy to serve in the new capacity.
The former Minister of External Affairs, who replaced late Abba Kyari, who died after complications from Coronavirus, promised to serve President Buhari to the best of his ability.
Prof Ibrahim Gambari was officially announced as the replacement for late Abba Kyari by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.
Responding to what Nigerians should expect from him as Chief of Staff to the President, Prof Gambari said he has not started, he would have to find out, adding that he doesnt report directly to the nation but to the President.
The 75-year-old Prof Gambari said he would offer his loyalty, competence and support the President, adding that his guiding principle as Chief of Staff would be “to serve the President to the best of my ability”
Meanwhile, commendations and condemnations have continued to trail the appointment of Professor Gambari as the new Chief of Staff to President Buhari.
