A self-proclaimed prophet, Ebenezer Ajigbotoluwa has been arrested by the police for allegedly defiling and impregnating two under-age sisters (names withheld).
This was disclosed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi.
Oyeyemi said that the suspect was arrested following a report by the mother of the victims at Lafenwa police station that she fell sick sometimes in 2018 and was taken to the church for spiritual healing.
According to the PPRO, “the victims’ mother stated further that the pastor took advantage of her illness and asked her entire family of six to move into the church premises to avoid being afflicted by the same sickness.
“There and then, the prophet started having sex with her daughters of 16 and 13 years, unknown to her.”
He said further that the pastor impregnated the two under-age girls and went to procure abortion for them in a private clinic.
Oyeyemi added that the prophet also allegedly defrauded the family of N2 million, which he took for what he called spiritual cleansing.
Reporters At Large gathered that when the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Lafenwa division, CSP Muraina Ayilara led his men to the church, he discovered that it had been deserted.
This led the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun to direct his officers and men to hunt for the suspect.
The efforts of the DPO and his men reportedly paid off when the prophet was arrested on August 6, 2020 at about 5 a.m.
When interrogated, the suspect was said to have confessed to committing most of the allegations levelled against him, and said it was the reason he ran away when he heard that police were looking for him.
