A 26-year-old man, Matthew Adebayo, who was teaching in a private secondary school (name withheld), has been arrested by policeman from Ogun State Police Command for allegedly forcing an unlawful carnal knowledge on a 15-year-old student.
Reporters At Large gathered that the teacher was arrested following a report by the proprietor of the school, who lodged a complaint at Sango police station in the state.
Disclosing this in a statement, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said that the proprietor stated that she was informed by one of her SS3 students that the suspect had been defiling the student repeatedly, since the resumption of the school in preparation for the West African School Certificate (WASC) examination.
The proprietor reportedly went further to say that the teacher intimidated the victim by telling her that she would not pass hee exams if she didn’t allow him to have a sexual relationship with her.
This, she added, made the suspect be calling the girl out of the dormitory at night and taking her to a classroom where he would have carnal knowledge of her.
“When the victim could no longer bear the sexual assault of the randy teacher, she decided to inform the proprietress.
“When the report was made, the Divisional Police Officer of Sango Division, CSP Godwin Idehai detailed his detectives to the scene, and the suspect was promptly arrested,” the PPRO said.
The suspect was said to have confessed to his deeds, while the victim had been taken to hospital for medical attention. In his comment, the PPRO said that the state Commissioner of Police, Edward A. Ajogun had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for further investigation and prosecution.
