President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a get-well-soon message to President of the United States of America (USA) Donald Trump, and his wife, Melania, who tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday.
Reporters At Large earlier reported that President Trump has said he and First Lady Melania Trump have tested positive for coronavirus and are in quarantine.
The president announced the news in a tweet.
In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, President Buhari also charged Nigerians to comply more with the issued protocols against the spread of COVID-19.
“President Muhammadu Buhari joins all citizens of United States of America in prayers for the quick and full recovery of President Donald Trump and his wife, Melanie, who reportedly tested positive to COVID-19.
The President notes, with sympathy, that the incident of COVID-19 in the White House manifests the challenge posed by the pandemic across the world, and difficulty in containing the spread.
While wishing the American First Family speedy turnaround in their current health status, President Buhari urges more compliance among Nigerians to protocols, and adherence to the advice of medical doctors, particularly epidemiologists,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, the White House tried to reassure Americans on Friday that President Donald Trump was still working from isolation, after his bombshell announcement that he had caught the coronavirus threw the administration and presidential election campaign into uncertainty
