Twenty-four hours after killing of a bystander youth in Ogbomosoland, Isiaka Jimoh by alleged police bullet, the angry mob on Sunday protested to the Palace of the first class monarch of the town, Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi Ajagungbade. In the process, they vandalised properties in the sacred palace.
Reporters At Large reliably gathered that the youths, in numbers, gained entry into the sitting room and adjoining rooms of the palace and succeeded in wreaking havoc.
The media aide of the monarch, Sunday Ajamu, could not be reached for comments as at the time of filing this report.
Reporters At Large earlier reported that one person has been reportedly shot dead as police officers in Oyo State opened fire on peaceful #EndSARS protesters in the state.
The protesters were rallying in Ogbomosho to join the demand for the scrapping of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad unit of the police when the incident happened.
However, the Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Olugbenga Fadeyi, in a statement issued in Ibadan on Saturday, said that the police did not fire a single shot at any protester.
Meanwhile, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on Saturday confirmed the death of Jimoh Isiaka, one of the #EndSARS protesters in Ogbomosho, Oyo State.
“I have received with deep sadness the news of the passing of one of our children, Jimoh Isiaka, who was shot during the #EndSARS protest in Ogbomoso. He later died at Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, earlier today,” Makinde tweeted.
