Protest against police brutality, extortion and extra-judicial killings turned violent in the Surulere area of Lagos State on Monday.
Reporters At Large gathered that police officers shot indiscriminately to disperse the protesters, as the Surulere Police Division is under attack by hoodlums.
In the process, two of the protesters were reportedly hit by gunshot, while a policeman identified as Erinfolami Ayodeji has been reportedly killed by the protesters.
Reporter At Large gathered that two other cops are in critical conditions at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Surulere.
A senior police officer told Reporters At Large that the protesters sacked the Anti-Kidnapping Section of the Lagos State Police Command at Surulere.
Our correspondent learnt that this was after policemen from the Area C Command shot dead a protester.
The protesters had since shared pictures and videos of the victims on social media.
However, efforts to reach the Lagos Police Command Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, proved abortive. He also did not respond to a text message forwarded to him by our correspondent.
Reporters At Large earlier reported that #ENDSARS protesters have blocked the entrance to Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
They blocked the Murtala Muhammed Access Plaza with placards. Some of the protesters marched from Computer Village via Along Bus Stop to the airport.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari had earlier said that the dissolution of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) is the first step in reforming the Nigeria Police Force.
He said this in a video uploaded on his Twitter handle on Monday.
He said, “I will like to use this opportunity to say a word on the recent genuine concerns and agitations by Nigerians about the excessive use of force and in some cases extra-judicial killings and wrongful conduct of the men of the Nigerian Police Force.
