The Ondo State All Progressives Congress (APC) has expelled a member of the state House of Assembly, Mrs Favour Tomowewo, over alleged anti-party activities during the last Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
Tomowewo, who is the only female lawmaker in the Assembly, was among the nine members who opposed the impeachment notice of the state deputy governor, Mr Agboola Ajayi, a few months ago.
Her suspension was contained in a letter dated October 12, 2020, and signed by the Chairman and the Secretary of Mahin Ward 4, Ilaje Constituency 2, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo state, Mr Olagoke Ajimuda and Mr Omosule Taid, respectively.
“She is working against the interest of our party by funding, mobilising, canvassing supporters and publicly flying the logo of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
“Having exhausted all known mechanism to investigate your anti-party activities, the executives met, deliberated extensively and consequently expelled you from the party,” the letter noted.
The officials said that Semilore-Tomomewo worked against the interest of the party in all political meetings, adding that she wore shirts with the logo of an opposition party.
Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, was ZLP’s governorship candidate in the poll won by Akeredolu.
