The Fulani Cattle Rearers Association in Nigeria, Miyetti Allah, has called on the federal government to treat the ongoing #EndSARS protest with an iron fist.
The group said the demonstration is to “bring down” the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking in an interview with Saturday Sun, national president of the association, Bello Abdullahi Bodejo, said the protest, though justified, has lived off its time.
The Miyetti Allah president, who stated that he was happy when the protest started, confirmed that many members of the association have been victims of the now-disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit.
Bodejo stated that with the federal government responding to the demand of the protesters, they were expected to stop their demonstration and vacate the streets.
He further noted that failure of the protesters to return home projected that “there is a hidden agenda in the protests.”
According to the Miyetti Allah national leader, “a desperate politician in the southwest is behind this movement.”
Speaking further, Bodejo stated that Fulani herders are being arrested on flimsy reasons as SARS officers demanded between “N500,000 and N600,000 for bail before they would release the person; they have been hard on our people.
“There is a hidden agenda in the protests. From all indications, not just politicians, but a desperate politician in the Southwest is behind this movement, that is why we are no longer keeping quiet, and we have decided to let the nation know what is happening because most people were not aware or have not read meaning into what is happening.
“It is no longer protest; a desperate politician who felt he has lost out in the 2023 scheme is drumming for these our youths.”
