Some hospitals experienced attacks from suspected hoodlums claiming to be #EndSARS protesters, as they invaded two psychiatry hospitals and a teaching hospital on Sunday.
Information gathered by Reporters At Large had it the hospitals included Yaba Neuropsychiatry Hospital, Lagos State; Federal Neuropsychiatry Hospital, Calabar, Cross River State and Obafemi Awolowo Teaching Hospital Complex, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
One of the patients at Yaba Hospital was noticeably injured in one of the pictures obtained by Reporters At Large, while bloodstains were used to mark the pictures of health ministers and a medical director of one of the psychiatry hospitals.
The hoodlums also attacked and vandalised the second gate of OAU Teaching Hospital, in an attempt to cause mayhem within, but were said to have been warded off by security guards.
A senior staff who craved anonymity said that the hospital had ensured the security of properties of the hospital and the lives of staff & patients.
“The Divisional Police Officer in the hospital area in Ife and other security agents have been alerted of this development.
“Kindly be on high alert for your hospital and keep safe,” he said.
Reporters At Large had earlier reported that security has been beefed up at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Oyo State, over suspicion that hoodlums were planning to attack the tertiary health institution.
The planned attack was disclosed by UCH’s Public Relations Officer, Toye Akinrinlola, on behalf of the Chief Medical Director, Professor Jesse Otegbayo.
