An officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Illiya Ibrahim, has been dismissed from the force over his alleged involvement in the looting of COVID-19 palliatives discovered in a warehouse in Gwagwalada, Abuja.

NSCDC made this known on Tuesday, October 27, in a statement released and signed by Gbenga Ekunola, the media assistant to the agency’s commandant general, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu.

Repoters At Large recalls that hoodlums on Monday, October 26, invaded the warehouse in the FCT where COVID-19 palliatives were stored.

Corps Assistant Illiya Ibrahim was given a marching order after being found guilty.

The storehouse, located in the Gwagwalada area council is said to be owned by the agricultural and rural development secretariat of the FCT administration.

Bags of rice and other grains were carted away by the thugs who climbed fences and broke the roofs of the warehouse in order to forcefully gain access.

Corps assistant officer Ibrahim who was deployed to restore normalcy was, however, caught on camera with the proceeds from the loots in what generated a deluge of reactions on social media as the video went viral.

NSCDC said Ibrahim has been relieved of his duty after the disciplinary committee set up to look into the case found him guilty.

Ekunola said the now dismissed officer was charged under the public service rule which is related to unbecoming conduct of officers.
