Operatives of the Akwa Ibom police command have arrested a Senior Secondary School (SS2) student (names withheld) for allegedly stabbing to death his SS3 school mate, Solomon Bassey, at a secondary school in Uyo.
The suspect was among the 54 suspected criminals paraded on Tuesday at the state police command.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Odiko Macdon, in a statement, explained that the death of Bassey was as a result of rival cult clash between SS 2 and SS3 students in the school.
The PPRO said that 31 of the cultists were arrested in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, 16 in Oruk Anam Local Government Area and seven in Etinan Local Government Area of the state.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Andrew Amiengheme, while decrying the level of moral decadence in some schools and society, called on parents to inculcate family values in their children.
Amiengheme said the proscription order by the government on secret cult groups would be enforced to the letter in the state.
The police boss said those arrested would be charged to court as soon as investigations were concluded into their cases.
