A statement released by the university’s Director of Public Affairs, Auwalu Umar, on Monday, disclosed that immediately the victims were abducted, the university’s security put a distress call to the police intelligence response team.

The statement said the police team arrived at the scene and there was an exchange of fire between them and the kidnappers.
