Police operatives attached to Trade Fair Division of the Lagos State Police Command has recovered the mace of the Ogun State House of Assembly.
The missing mace was recovered on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Abule Ado area of Lagos, at about 8:30a.m.
The police spokesman in the state, SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said in a statement that the police operatives had worked on an intelligence gathered from members of the community.
The community members had informed the police that someone in a moving vehicle, suspected to be Toyota Sienna Space Wagon, threw out an object into a nearby bush.
When the object was recovered , it was identified to be the mace which was stolen from Ogun State House of Assembly.
“The mace had been allegedly stolen from the House of Assembly complex, Ogun State recently.
“It has been handed over to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, who later instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of State Criminal Investigation Department, DCP Yetunde Longe, to protect the mace and liaise with the Ogun State Police Command on the return of the recovered mace to Ogun State,” the PPRO stated.
He said further that Odumosu promised to assist the Ogun State Command in the investigation into the incident that led to the recovery of the mace.
