Confirming the explosion in a statement, the Corridor Commander,

Lagos-Ibadan-Egbeda Corridor of the Federal Road Safety Corps, DCC Kehinde Hamzat said that the pipeline burst occurred while workers at Julius Berger, the construction company working on Lagos-Ibadan highway, were excavating a surface to work on.

“This has led to a standstill traffic situation on both sections of the highway.

“Motorists are advised not to panic, as professionals are being contacted to take care of the situation. “People who have time-bound activities may explore alternative routes, while those who can postpone their trips can endeavour to do so while the situation gets controlled,” Hamzat said.
