The management of the Lagos State University has postponed the 2019/2020 first semester examinations indefinitely after non-academic staff shut the entrance of the university.
The PUNCH reports that workers under the aegis of Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have declared a nationwide strike.
It was learnt that members of the NASU branch of the unions shut the entrance of LASU in a bid to disrupt the ongoing examination in the school.
Our correspondent also learnt that the workers shut examination halls and other facilities in the school.
The management announced the postponement in a statement on Monday, titled, ‘2019/2020 first semester GNS examination postponed indefinitely’, by its Head of Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations, Mr Ademola Adekoya.
The statement read, “As the 2019/2020 first semester examinations of Lagos State University (LASU) come to an end, the General Nigerian Studies examination has been postponed indefinitely.
“According to the Director, Centre For General Nigerian Studies, the postponement became expedient because of the ongoing industrial action by some of the unions of the Institution.
He added that a new date for the examination would be announced in due course.
“All the concerned students are advised to check the university information platforms, website, official bulletin and others from time to time on the new dates for the GNS examination.”
