A photo journalists with SUN newspaper in Ibadan, Gbenga Olugbodi, has become the vice-chairman of the Sport Writers Association of Nigeria, (SWAN), Oyo State chapter.
Olugbodi was elected unopposed on Thursday during SWAN congress held at the premises of the Nigerian Union Of Journalists (NUJ), Iyaganku, Ibadan.
Chairman of the SWAN in Oyo State, Niyi Alebiosu, while speaking after the swearing-in of the new vice chairman, together with other exco elected noted, that the election became necessary to filled the vacant space in the excos to move the association forward.
Alebiosu lamented the low turnout of members during the congress, calling on them to unite and come together to champion the same course to restored bhe glory of the association.
He said, “Oyo SWAN used to be at the forefront of sport in Nigeria. We need to come together and reclaim our glory. Let’s all hands be on the deck so that we can achieve our aims and objectives.”
Others are, Blessing Fowowe, Assistant Secretary, Olawale Hamzat, Financial Secretary while Ola Olarewaju bags Ex- Officio Member.
In his speech, the newly-elected SWAN vice-chairman thanked the association and the Oyo NUJ for allowing him to served, pledging his commitment towards moving the association forward.
