94-year-old Estella Williams from Anderson, South Carolina, has been working as a crossing guard near a school for 25 years, and she has no plans of retiring any time soon!
“It’s good. I enjoy doing it,” Williams told ABC News 4 about her job controlling the traffic outside Westside High School in Anderson, South Carolina.
She started at the job 25 years ago, at 69 years old. She said, “My son-in-law was a policeman then. And he needed somebody, and he asked me if I would help him for a few days.” But then the few days turned into years.
Williams, who is also a mother to 18 children, is now the oldest crossing guard in South Carolina and one of the oldest in the U.S.
“Yeah, I keep the kids safe. And the people,” she said.
