StandUp for Women Society (SWS) has advised President Muhammad Buhari to find a lasting solution to the insecurity, gun-running, destructions of farmlands and rape in Nigeria.

The National President of most populated upcoming women genders advocacy SWS, Barr. Deborah Abosede Ijadele-Adetona said the Nigerian women and concerned Nigerians are disturbed with the increase in the numbers of widows, fatherless and motherless children, across the nation, particularly the people from the North Central, North East, South West and South-South areas of the country.

The group, in a statement issued at the end of its national emergency meeting held on Tuesday, 18th May 2021 by its apex body, Board of Trustees, and signed by its National President and National Publicity Secretary respectively, Barr. Deborah Abosede Ijadele-Adetona ESQ and Bilkisu Ado Zango added that “it is worth noting that, the heat of this insecurity also gets to the relief centres and individuals homes. Worst of it all is that farmers can no longer go to their farmlands, road transport is fastly becoming a mirage, most small business owners can no longer operate due to the state of insecurity in our nation and the roads are becoming imotorable. The future effects of all these will invite famine in the families, poverty level will continue to rise, social vices and crime rate will increase especially among youths which will plunge our dear Nation in chaos and calamity.

“It’s on this note that, Standup for Women Society (SWS) is vehement, condemning all these acts of man inhumanity to man and insecurity in our nation.

“In the opinion of SWS, we do implore, therefore, the Federal Government to make more recruitment into the Army, Airforce, Navy, Police, Civil Defence and DSS; To permit all state governments to have their internal security, if possible establish the state police, and the Federal Government should enact law enforcement agencies and judicial Tribunal at the federal and states level to give capital punishment to anyone caught in the act of kidnapping, banditry and raping.”
