Governors elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have vowed to protect democracy and deepen capacity in Nigeria.
Rising from their meeting in Abuja on Thursday, the Governors identified capacity cooperation as the only option towards unlocking a new Nigeria that the people have been yearning for.
Chairman of the PDP Governors forum Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State speaking to Journalists after the meeting that lasted over four hours, said the forum was brought up to speed on the state of preparedness of the convention organising committee chaired by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
He noted that PDP is set to go into the convention that promises to be hitch-free.
Governor Tambuwal reassured their determination to strengthen democracy in Nigeria, adding that the forum has been able to achieve an 80 per cent consensus of elective offices, while negotiations are still ongoing to get the remaining contestants to agree on who steps down.
The convention is billed for Saturday the 30th and 31st of October.
