A student of Imeko Comprehensive College in Imeko Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State, Bello Naheem on Thursday mobilised hoodlums to attack the school head, beat a teacher and tore his cloth.
Naheem’s parents, Mr Raheem and Mrs Sidat Bello, who are teachers at RCM School 1, Ilara and Idisen Community Primary School, Ilara respectively, left their post of duties at 9.30a.m for their son’s school with hoodlums to beat the teachers, harassed the School Principal, Chief Olaleye Segun and molested the PTA Chairman, Alfa Wakeel Lawal, until a Chief who is said to be the head of a quarter in Imeko and some Community leaders were called to rescue the ugly incident.
One of the eyewitnesses (who pleaded anonymity) who expressed displeasure at the incident said Mr and Mrs Bello have no good relationship in the community where they live, explaining that “it will interest you to know that out of almost 30 residential buildings in the street, Naheem’s parents’ house was the only building that prostituted into the middle of the road behind the School within the Obatedo CDA Isale, Imeko. This made the road to be so narrow, which now poses danger not only to the road users but also to other buildings in the area, students and staff of the school. Efforts of the Zonal Town Planning Office Ayetoro to remove the fence and the shops on Mr and Mrs Bello’s building and the fence are yet to yield any positive results. parents, the couple turned deaf ears to the concerned constituted authority.
“It is now a clarion call to the inspectorate office on Education in Ogun State to visit the place before an accident occurs in the area.
“It is ugly to hear that upon the State Government instructions to curb the menace of violating the rights of school teachers, peoples still turn deaf ears to the Government directives. Thanks to the Nigeria police, Imeko Division for their quick intervention,” the eyewitness said.
While the student who had invited his gangs and parents to beat the teacher ran away, his father, Rahman, a Primary School teacher at RCM School 1, Ilara who allegedly mercilessly beat an accounting teacher of the College, Mr Sanusi Mujee, has been arrested and presently in the police custody at Police Divisional headquarters, Imeko.
“The suspects were still in the custody of the police and we believe they would be arranged before a competent court of law in due course,” the eyewitness said.
REPORTERS AT LARGE gathered that Imeko Comprehensive College was established when the existing Secondary Schools were congested.
