The 13th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof Kayode Oyebode Adebowale, has reiterated the determination of his administration to reposition the teaching and learning processes at the university to enhance its global ranking.
The Library system, research activities and municipal services will also be improved.
Prof Adebowale stated this today at the opening of a 3- day Management Retreat themed “Towards a Global First Rate University, Harnessing Strengths and Opportunities “.
The Vice-Chancellor, however, stated that he could not do it alone and solicited the cooperation and assistance of all stakeholders to attain and maintain a high global ranking and enhance the international outlook of the University.
Prof Adebowale who titled his presentation “Hands of a Thousand Rafters…” said he had identified 19 action plans to assist him in his quest to sustain the University as a global leader.
The immediate past Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof A. I. Olayinka, FAS, noted that the Retreat was timely adding that Together Each Achieve More (TEAM).
Another former Vice-Chancellor of UI, Emeritus Professor O. A. Bamiro, FAS, delivered the Keynote Address.
He noted that everyone has to contribute to the continued existence and progress of the University.
Prof Bamiro stated that Universities needed to look beyond the government to make a difference stressing the Triple Helix of Government- Industry- Academia to sustain the university system.
Prof Bamiro advised the new Vice-Chancellor to use Data effectively, manage changes and make a deliberate policy to ensure that people work together.
