As the 2023 general election approaches, a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Hon. Dare Adeleke has given assurances that the party will not impose any unpopular candidate over the wish of the majority of the party faithful that might affect its chances during the election.
Hon. Adeleke who is the Chairman of PaceSetter Transport Services in Oyo State gave the assurance while hosting the Special Adviser to Oyo State Governor on Culture and Tourism, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige at his Oluyole residence recently.
Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige was at the residence of the PDP chieftain in continuation of his consultation to PDP leaders and stakeholders in Ibadan South-East and North-East federal constituency and seeking their blessing to contest for the House of Representatives election to represent the said federal constituency in 2023 general elections.
Hon. Adeleke who is the former South-West Youth Leader of the PDP stressed that the party will be transparent and create a level playground for all the aspirants aspiring for various elective positions without giving undue favour to any of the aspirants that will affect the party in the long run.
Adeleke said that while there is nothing wrong for anybody to aspire for any position, it is, however, important for such an individual to weigh his or her chance and how popular he is among the electorate before embarking on such an adventure.
While welcoming Hon. Akeem Ige and his entourage, Hon. Adeleke said that Ademola Ige is one of the very few politicians with track records of performance in all positions he has held so far, urging him not to relent in his consultations to stakeholders to seek their blessing for the House of Representatives election come 2023.
Another PDP chieftain in Ibadan South East Local Government, Hon. Kunmi Adesina also described Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige as a tested, trusted and competent politician with deep experience in grassroots politics. He equally assured Hon. Ige of transparency and level playground for all aspirants seeking elective positions.
Ige who also visited the Chairman Oyo State Sports Council, Hon. Olugbenga Ayinde Adewusi (Arole) in his office at Adamasingba Sports complex, had earlier informed the PDP chieftains that his visit was part of his consultations to various stakeholders to intimate them of his intention to contest for House of Representatives election in 2023 and seek their blessings and support.
