People’s Democratic Party (PDP) House of Assembly aspirants from Ibadan South West have called for the need to allow a truly democratic process to prevail by the party’s primary elections are conducted, under a free and fair atmosphere for a credible candidate to emerge as party representatives.

The aspirants, Kazeem Alarape Abidemi, Isola Abiodun Adekunle Baruwa, Babatunde George Ige, Oluwafemi Gbenga Emmanuel, Samson Opeyemi Fatola, Alimi Kabiru, Gbenga Folorunsho Elebolo, Lawal Morufu Olawale and Aliu Rahmon Abiona, particularly admonished the party leaders against the imposition of candidates, warning that such would spell doom for the party at the general elections.

According to the aspirants, “Adebayo Babajide Gabriel from Ibadan North Constituency 2 is adjudged to be the most loyal lawmaker among the present lawmakers in the Oyo State House of Assembly to His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, and this serving lawmaker has agreed with other aspirants from the local government to go into party primary election, slated for May 18, 2022, as opposed to being returned through consensus arrangement.

They have all done this in the interest of the party and democracy to ensure that credible and popular candidate is elected through democratic means to represent the party in the next general election”.

If our Governor could not exert his influence on the people of Ibadan North local government to return Hon. Jide, why is Alhaja Bose Adedibu insisting on having Hon. Oluwafemi Fowokanmi from Ibadan Southwest returned through imposition or forceful consensus arrangement?

Why is Bose Adedibu telling lies that it was Governor Seyi Makinde’s directive from above that the two lawmakers from the local government ( Hon. Yusuf Adebisi & Hon. Fowokanmi) be returned and all leaders including the delegates must follow suit by making sure the order of the governor is carried out?

Why is Bose Adedibu bent on circumventing the wish of all the aspirants to go into the primary to determine the party’s candidates in the next election?

Rather than use her position as the PDP Southwest Zonal Women Leader to ensure stability in the party especially in the Ibadan Southwest, rather, she’s using her position to truncate a peaceful democratic process in Ibadan Southwest Local Government.

Why are these incumbent lawmakers from Ibadan Southwest ( Constituency 1 & 2) afraid of a primary election?

It is the resolve of all the aspirants in Ibadan Southwest Local government to go into primary election in accordance with INEC guidelines and any illegal and unacceptable means to go through the backdoor to submit any fraudulent names to INEC as party candidates will be resisted through an available democratic process within the ambience of law.

PDP is a national party, PDP is not a sole proprietorship, PDP belongs to us all and every effort will be put in to sustain its legacies and maintain its credibility.

The enemies of PDP in her Ibadan Southwest Local government should stay clear of what can affect our chances in the next general election.
