The Oyo state Chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), under the leadership of Oluyinka Folahan has acknowledged that there are factions of the party, and the fate of the political party depends on his led executives council because of their strict adherence to the constitutional principles and ethics of the party, and equally recognized by the Oyo State High Court of justice.
Folahan in a press conference held on Tuesday, at the Party’s Secretariat in Ibadan claimed that the order of interim injunction issued by the court, which is presently extended BY seven (7) days forbids anyone parading himself/herself as the Chairman of the party excluding him from the list.
According to him,” My emergence as the state chairman of this party followed due process, and many consultations were in respect to the best interest of the party’s survival and success in the forthcoming election. The rude shock came hours after the congress, when we were informed by INEC that they received a call from the National Chairman, Dr. Olu Agunloye not to honour the congress that led to my emergence.
“The case is presently contested before the Honourable Court of Law seated in Ibadan, and the court has forbidden anybody to parade as the chairman, and any contrary action must be regarded as contempt of court. On the very note in strict regards to the rule of the law, the fate of the party depends heavily on my led executives to determine.
He also added, “I have never collected a dime from the His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde as a bid to destabilize the party in favour of the Governor’s re-emergence or for any other hidden agenda. I am not a political jobber and I have never received a dime from anybody on behalf of the party. SDP remains our baby.
Those that went to Abuja are the aggrieved members of the party with selfish interest because they belong to several political parties as members”.
