A prominent traditional ruler in the Oke-Ogun region of Oyo State, the Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba (Dr). Abd-Ganiy Adekunle Salau, of Ajinese 1, has passed away, according to family sources.

REPORTERS AT LARGE gathered that the monarch had been in a hospital in Ibadan suffering from a critical ailment.

The University of Ibadan-trained veterinary doctor, who ascended the throne in 2007, was said to have died at the University College Hospital, where he had been for months.

The monarch’s death occurred on Sunday, marking the fourth such instance among senior traditional rulers in Oyo State in eight months.

Earlier, the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Ajagungbade Oyewumi, died in December 2021, followed by the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, and the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, who, respectively, joined their ancestors, as the Yoruba customarily say when a monarch dies, in January and April 2022.
