Bandits terrorising Kaduna State on Monday night capitalised on the downpour and abducted several residents of the Keke community of Millennium City, Chikun local government area of the state.
It was reported that the attack occurred around 9:00 pm on Monday, when many residents were still at home after finishing their work and business due to the cloudy weather.
The Millennium City is an emerging social and commercial community where a 300-bed multi-function hospital and low-cost housing scheme are being built by the Kaduna State government.
Sources within the troubled community who spoke in confidence hinted that “the kidnappers came around 9:00 pm during that rain.
“So, people were not alerted early enough because the rain was heavy and suspicious.
“By the time they left, many residents were missing, indicating that they may have been kidnapped. Most of the people kidnapped were just returning home during the attack, and they just ran into the bandits,” the source said.
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement has been made by either the Kaduna State Police Command or the Kaduna State Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs regarding the development.
