The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, Dr Dayo Hephzibah Oladebeye, over an allegation of misappropriation of funds.
Officers of the anti-fraud agency of the government of the federation were reportedly sighted on the campus of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, on Wednesday, October 26th, 2022.
Our impeccable sources, who craved anonymity for security reasons, hinted that some Polytechnic staff members had earlier been invited to the Ilorin, Kwara State office of the anti-graft agency over an allegation of funds misappropriation reportedly levelled against the institution’s management.
Further investigations, however, revealed that the institution’s management was said to have misled the federal government by conniving with the Salaries and Wages Commission, an agency responsible and accountable for paying federal government workers’ salaries, wages, and arrears, to pay undue promotion arrears to selected members of the institution’s staff.
It was further disclosed that the paid arrears were refunded by the concerned staff to the purse of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, after a series of threat circulars to stop their salaries upon failure to remit them as directed by the Polytechnic’s management.
Information has it that the three industrial unions, the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics (SSANIP), and the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), the Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti chapter, were accomplices in the charade perpetrated by the Institution’s management.
All efforts to reach the Rector, Engr Dr Oladebeye, proved abortive, as his cell phone number was not available.
