Tension enveloped Asaba, Delta State capital, following the partial collapse of a two-storey building at the multiple sports complex of the Stephen Keshi Stadium, where some persons were reportedly injured.
The structure under construction ahead of the 21st National Sports Festival scheduled to hold at the stadium this year was recently inspected by the Minister of Sports and Youths Development, Sunday Dare, from November 28, reportedly collapsed around 10a.m.
Although the cause of the collapse is yet to be ascertained, it was learnt that it would not be unconnected to the construction rush to meet the project’s delivery deadline for use.
Three persons reportedly died in the incident, but the State Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, said no one died but that three were injured.
