Hon. Kunle Akindele, Councilor of Ward 8, Ibadan South West, has embarked on a street-to-street water purification program to declare war to end open defecation and promote a healthy environment for the constituency’s residents.

This was disclosed during the environmental tour in Oke Bola that the program is in line with the statutory role of the local council government.

According to him, “The program is a duty’s call that must be answered, and it is very important to ignite the consciousness of our people about the essence of clean water. This environmental tour equally aims to raise awareness about open defecation through collective efforts.

According to UNICEF the rate at which open defecation related illnesses send our wards to early grave is highly alarming. For us to end the avoidable deaths, we have to have all hands on the desk. If India can achieve this feet in few years, why can we have Oyo State as an example in Nigeria as the pace setter.

He also added, “We have successfully knock on the doors of almost all the houses enquiring about thier sanitation and hygiene in respect to any form of pollution. We have promised to submit comprehensive documentation to respective quarters and concerned authorities as a need to battle this societal vices collectively.
