With a projected total population of more than 1.425 billion, India has overtaken China as the world’s most populous nation.
According to recent statistics from the United Nations Population Division, there are currently 1,425,775,850 people living in India.
As a result, the country is now officially recognised as having the largest population.
India has surpassed China, whose population peaked at 1.426 billion in 2022 before declining.
Since the UN began keeping track of population sizes around the world in the 1950s, China has held the record.
India has surpassed China despite being roughly three times smaller, which is surprising. The country is 3.287 million square kilometres (1.269 million square miles) larger than China.
China has a huge 9.597 million sq km (4 million sq mi) area, compared to India’s meagre 3.287 million sq km (1.269 million sq mi).
China is the largest nation in Asia, the fourth largest in the world, and just slightly smaller than the United States.
India is the seventh-largest nation in the world in terms of total area.
Seven million travellers from all over the world are expected to visit India in 2021, making it another popular tourism destination. Before the coronavirus pandemic, the numbers were substantially higher.
Of course, the nation is home to a number of well-known tourist destinations, like the Taj Mahal and the Amber Palace.
