The wife of the Oyo State Governor, Mrs. Tamunominini Olufunke Makinde, will host 990 girls on Wednesday to train them on everything about menstrual health and hygiene.
The programme, which will be held at the House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Ibadan, will have 10 students drawn from three schools in each of the 33 Local Government Areas of the state in attendance.
Ninety-nine teachers drawn from the participating schools will also attend the event.
Mrs. Makinde, the chief host of the event ‘A Day out with the Girls of Oyo State,’ will use the event to commemorate Menstrual Hygiene Day, held on May 28.
The Oyo State governor’s wife usually hangs out with girls in the state twice a year since 2020 in commemoration of the Menstrual Hygiene Day and the International Day of the Girl Child, held on October 11.
According to the office of the Wife of the Governor, the event is designed for Her Excellency to spend time with the girls and educate them about menstrual hygiene.
There will be facilitators who will train the girls on menstrual hygiene and everything about their menstrual health.
There will also be an avenue for questions and answers, while the girls in attendance will be given souvenirs and menstrual hygiene products.
Officials from the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, including the Permanent Secretary, Directors, and Deputy Directors, and officials from the Ministries of Women Affairs, Health, and Education in Oyo State are expected to attend the event.
